On Line Application FAQ

As we move through the on line application process for local events, there are several questions that have come up from both directors and site chairs.  As I receive more questions, I will post the question and solution here.  If you have a question that is not answered here, please contact Dave Handshue at mb_affairs@ohio-ohio.org

Site Chair  Paper application.  Paper application is a thing of the past.  If a site chair receives a paper application, they are asked to contact the director, thank them for selecting their show and gently guide them through the on line application process.

Site Chair/Participant  Accessing the "bands attending" link on the web site.  The link is only available to the director listed as the site chair.  It is tied to their MENC number.  If there is a change of chair, please contact me and I will make the change.

Site Chair  Receiving applications without a classification entered.  The number and classification that appears automatically on the application is only a guideline.  That is the most current number from the Ohio Department of Education.  The director still needs to enter the classification.

Site Chair    Changing classifications.  A director calls after you send out the information and says they are in the wrong classification, or wants to change classifications.  Have the director go to the on line application and enter the classification desired.  Site Chairs will need to do another download of the information and it will be changed in our management program.  If they change on the day of the event, please note that on your recap.

Participant    Selection of classification.  Bands can move up in classification at any time throughout the season.  If you receive an application with a lower classification listed (that what ODE says), drop me a short email and I will look at it from this end.  Bands may be in a lower classification depending on the vocational students.  ODE lists vocational students in the general school population for some schools but not others. It is still the directors responsibility to correctly determine the classification.  I thought it would be good to include the ODE number for some guidance.  We will rethink this for next year.

Participant   Participating band link on the OMEA web site.  The link that shows which bands are competing as selected shows is only available to the site chair.  Each site chair may see the bands that have selected their show.

Participant  Is the OSU event full?  Yes.  They have done their selection of bands (I believe it was a blind selection).  If you have not received information from OSU, please plan on selecting another show.

Site Chair  Out of State Bands. Yes, we still accept out of State bands for local events.  If an out of State band would like to participate in and OMEA local event, you will need to contact Dave Handshue (see email above) and tell me your school name, address; director name, address; and the directors MENC number.  The number will be entered into our data base and the director can then access and complete the online application.

Site Chair  My Link to see the participating bands will not work.  Use the link that appears on the first page after you log in.  That link is up and running fine.  The link on the site chairs page is a secondary link to download your participating bands.
